She grew up in Erie, Pennsylvania. Davis was most famous for playing the role of Alice Nelson on the television classic “The Brady Bunch” which ran from 1969 to 1974. She also appeared as Alice in a handful of Brady movies and several episodes of the 90s television spinoff “The Bradys”. She went on to graduate from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor with a degree in Speech and Drama in the late 40s. She began her professional on-camera career in the mid-50s, appearing on such shows as “Matinee Theatre” and “Lux Video Theatre”. She became a household name when she was cast as Charmaine “Schultzy” Schultz on “The Bob Cummings Show”. She would go on to win two Emmy Awards for her work on the program. She appeared in a range of commercials and other television shows throughout the 60s. In 1969, she was cast in the role that would bring her the most lasting fame, as Alice Nelson on “The Brady Bunch”. Since the 90s, she has mostly focused on theater work, though she has continued to make appearances in “Brady Bunch” related programming. Later in life she had become very involved with the Episcopal church. In the late 70s, she left Hollywood and moved with her church to Denver then Pennsylvania and finally Texas. Ann B. Davis died on June 1st, 2014 at her home in Texas at the age of 88.
