Debbie Reynolds was born Mary Frances Reynolds in El Paso, Texas in April 1932. At 16 she signed with Warner Bros. but not much came of it. She then signed with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) and had small parts in Three Little Words and Two Weeks with Love in 1950. In 1952 she starred in Singin’ in the Rain with Gene Kelly and Donald O’Connor. Her other notable films include Tammy and the Bachelor, How the West Was Won, and The Unsinkable Molly Brown. Debbie had two hit songs from her movies; “Aba Daba Honeymoon” from Two Weeks with Love, and “Tammy” from Tammy and the Bachelor. She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress for The Unsinkable Molly Brown in 1965. During her lifetime, she was married and divorced three times. She had a daughter, actress Carrie Fisher and a son Todd Fisher. Debbie’s first husband Eddie Fisher infamously left her for Elizabeth Taylor, who was their best friend and neighbor. Later in life Debbie lent her voice to The Penguins of Madagascar, Family Guy, Kim Possible, and Rugrats. From 1999 to 2006 she played Bobbi Adler on Will & Grace. She received a Lifetime Achievement Award in Comedy from the American Comedy Awards in 2006 and 2007. Tragically, Debbie Reynolds died on December 28, 2016, one day after he daughter died.
