She went on to earn a MFA in theatre from Cornell University.
She acted in the Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago for fifteen years. She was one of only two women picked to be a part of The Second City comedy troupe. She continued to improve her skills playing the role of Carol Brady in Annoyance Theater’s production The Real Live Brady Bunch. She has been a familiar face on TV for over a decade, appearing on hit shows such as L.A. Law, Judging Amy, 7th Heaven, Two and a Half Men, Gilmore Girls, and Criminal Minds to name a few. At the same time she also appeared in numerous television commercials, including one for children’s cereal “Frosted Flakes”. Lynch wrote and starred in the award-winning play Oh Sister, My Sister to kick off the Lesbians in Theater program at the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center in 2004. This play was originally produced in 1998, Lynch married clinical psychologist Dr. Lara Embry on May 31, 2010.
