Judith Light net worth: Judith Light is an American actress who has a net worth of $8 million. Judith Light is probably most famous for appearing in much-loved soap operas and sitcoms, including One Life to Live and Who’s the Boss. Hailing from Trenton, New Jersey, Light started her career on stage, appearing in the 1970 play, Richard III, at California Shakespeare Festival. The blonde bombshell went on to Broadway, starring in A Doll House in 1975 and Herzl in 1976. Light was on a roll, until the late 1970s when acting roles were drying out. Penniless through the dry period, Light almost quit acting altogether. All was not lost, as Light made a smart transition to the small screen, thanks to her agent. At first, the actress was not keen on becoming a firm fixture in soaps or sitcoms – but after being informed that a daily pay would be $350, the idea quickly grew on Light. So she tried out an audition for an understudy role in ABC’s soap, One Life to Live. Whilst at the audition, the veteran actress then realised that “the format reaches out to a lot of people,” therefore she felt she can make a difference – and make a lot of money in the process!

Judith Light is beaming with success, a side effect of the high net worth, perhaps?

There was no turning back for Light as instead of having the understudy role, she was recast as the bored housewife-turned prostitute Karen Wolek. For her portrayal in One Life to Live, Light received her first Emmy award for Best Actress in a Drama Series. Since her major triumph, the well seasoned actress was featured in many high profile dramas and sitcoms throughout the 1980s, including St Elsewhere (in which she won her second Emmy Award in 1981), Family Ties and Who’s the Boss. By the 1990’s, she began appearing in feature films such as Men Don’t Tell and Too Close to Home. The noughties were just as fruitful for Light, as she had a reoccurring role in Law and Order: Special Victims Unit – and who can forget her in Ugly Betty, as Daniel and Alexis Meade’s alcoholic mother! The role earned Light an Emmy nomination.
