Petty started his professional car racing career in July 1958. He raced for the first time in Toronto. He was a seven-time NASCAR Champion. From the year of 1964 to 1981, he won NASCAR national championship seven times. He also won Daytona 500. This is the reason everybody calls him The King. In all, Richard accumulated 200 victories in different tournaments. In the year 1967 alone, he won 27 races.

Personal Life

Richard married Lynda Owens in the year 1958. However, she died of cancer at the age of 72. They had four children. The Petty family now resides in Richard’s hometown Level cross.
