He majored in Communications at Santa Clara University and took on modeling jobs to pay his bills. Moore has dated American R&B singer-songwriter, record producer and actress Toni Braxton, as well as American actress and a former fashion model Halle Berry. His mother was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1998, Shemar and several of his Criminal Minds castmates have attended charity events to raise money for MS research. Some of his film credits include; the 2004 movie Motives, The Seat Filler and Greener also in 2004. His most recent film role was in the 2007 movie Motives 2: Retribution in the role of “Emery Simms”. In addition to his early television role in The Young and the Restless, Moore has also appeared in the 1998 TV miniseries Mama Flora’s Family as the character “Lincoln Fleming”, the Birds of Prey TV series from 2002 until 2003 as the character “Jesse Reese”, and the 2004 TV miniseries Scott Turow’s Reversible Errors in the role of “Collins Farwell”.
