Born in Saratoga Springs, New York, David Hyde Pierce originally focused on a career in music, playing piano and organ throughout his school years, and eventually enrolling in the music program at Yale University.  Theater had always been a side venture, but he ended up shifting his focus while in college and graduated with degrees in English and Theatre Arts.  After relocating to New York, he made his Broadway debut in “Beyond Therapy” in 1982.  After breaking into television with a role on a short-lived sitcom, he became a household name when he was cast as Niles Crane on “Frasier”.  He went on to be nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Emmy for his work on the show a record eleven consecutive times, and won four awards.  He has also appeared in multiple films, and provided voices for a range of cartoons.  Some of his projects have included “Little Man Tate”, “Sleepless in Seattle”, “A Bug’s Life”, “Hellboy”, and “The Simpsons’.  He also returned to Broadway, appearing in “Spamalot”, and “Curtains”, for which he won a Tony Award.
